We Remember Submariners achieved a new milestone today, when our first ever Stand at a public event was launched at the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Plymouth.
The WRS Stand became a popular assembly point within the Veterans Tent, with many visitors, including the Lord Mayor of Plymouth taking an interest in the work we do and the charitable causes we supportSpreading the word about We Remember Submariners through both conversation and information leaflets, we not only publicly announced our existence as a group, but we also gained about 20 new ‘members’.
Various WRS goodies were also available for purchase, and the sale of these to a generous public raised nearly £400 for We Remember Submariners, the work that we do and the great causes we support!
A huge ‘Thank You’ and an even bigger ‘Well Done’ to Sarah Freeman, who not only organised every aspect of the WRS Stand, overcoming many obstacles along the way, but ran the Stand on the day with the help of her partner Mike.
8th April 2015
On the 8th April 2011, Lt. Cdr. Ian Molyneux was sadly killed aboard HMS Astute during an act of bravery and heroism that, without doubt, saved the lives of others.
Always, our heartfelt thoughts are with all of his family, friends and shipmates; especially Gill , Jamie, Arron, Bethany and Charlie.
Because We Remember Submariners came into existence as a direct result of Ian Molyneux’s death, today is a fitting publication day for this website and we are proud to be able to ‘make it so’.
The website is in it’s infancy, and work in progress, but it will grow and change over the coming weeks and months as more content is added and the style is developed to best fit the needs of our members and visitors.
Meanwhile, we are ready to take pre-orders for the next We Remember Submariners Memorial Pin.
